Course Description
STOP THE BLEED® is the result of a collaborative effort led by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) to bring knowledge of bleeding control to the public. The ACS COT, and specifically the EMS subcommittee with its many collaborative relationships, provided the perfect environment for this program to grow into the critical success that it is today.
The Stop the Bleed course is a 30 minute course that is both didactic and interactive.
This is a basic course in hemorrhage control, which is focused on direct pressure, wound packing and use of commercial tourniquets. If you are interested in attending, make sure you sign in on the provided attendance sheet upon arrival for the SWAN Conference.
There is a pre-course video that covers the didactic component that you are required to view before attending. Access to the video will be sent to the registrants via email.
Objectives
Tens of thousands of medical professionals have trained to become course instructors. Today, those instructors are focused on training people in all walks of life to become immediate responders through the STOP THE BLEED® course. More than 3 million people from the general community and public have been trained to save a life by stopping the bleed.
