Dr. Alon D. Schwartz, MD, FACS, is the Director of Trauma at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, located in the Jerusalem city center. He was trained as a general surgeon at Shaare Zedek, and completed a two-year fellowship at Ryder Trauma Center, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida. Dr. Schwartz has completed additional comprehensive training in the U.S., Europe, and Israel. Dr. Schwartz is a reserve Lieutenant Colonel in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), an experienced veteran in the Medical Corps of the IDF and the Israeli Air Force (IAF). He has served as Doctor of Medical Airborne Evacuation, and currently serves as an active reservist in the elite 669 Rescue and Medical Evacuation Unit of the IAF. The unit treats and evacuates civil and military emergency victims by air transport rescue operations. Dr. Schwartz serves on the committee of the Israel Emergency Surgery and Trauma Society and the Israel Ministry of Health National Committee for Trauma.
